Cabinets are in! It’s been quite a process, but they’re here and they’re gorgeous. Max and I spent many nights after the kids were in bed designing these bad boys. There were lots of conversations and sketches, not to mention Google, Pinterest, and Houzz image searches for inspiration. While it was fun to be able to design these to specifically meet our needs, it was also overwhelming. Who am I kidding – this whole process has been overwhelming. We pretty much had a blank space to work with – awesome, right? Yes, except I get in my head about nearly everything: do we want all drawers under our bathroom sinks, how many drawers in the girls’ vanities, how much shelf space should we put in the guest vanity, and what about the half bath? Do we want the vanity sides flush to the wall, or a little room on each side? What type of faucet will look best? And the colors – ohhhhhhh the colors…

I knew I didn’t want white in every room, but when your options are basically endless, making a decision is difficult. I used a lot of online inspiration, but then it became an issue of deciding where I wanted it. For example, I saw a beautiful picture of a small guest bathroom with a coral vanity on Pinterest that I thought would look great in our half bath. But then I saw a picture of a gorgeous green vanity that I also wanted in our half bath. And you know which one I went with? Neither. And THIS has been my life for the last 18 months. Seeing a vision, heading that direction, and then completely changing it when it came time to make the final decision. Am I making it this difficult, or is it really. this. difficult? Asking for a friend…

After making the final decisions, and a few of them without even seeing a sample (risky, I know), I was extremely apprehensive to see the cabinets when they arrived. I kept the colors on the cooler side knowing that’s my preference when it comes to color. And I’m being completely honest when I say that I couldn’t even remember the layout we chose for each cabinet – despite the fact that I have a “house planner.” Do you think I wrote it all down? Of course not. Don’t be like me…write it down. All of it.

So here they are in all their glory. I went with white in our kitchen (saving those for a separate post), white in the Jack & Jill bathroom, and then decided to have a little fun in our laundry room, bar, and the other bathrooms.
